January 2009
Dear Clients and Friends:
The
New Year is here and January is almost
history. Where does time go? I am in hopes that it
means we are all busy, in a positive way, and that good times
are upon us. Speaking of good times, earlier this
month, Long Grove acted as Agent in the placement of the
new stallion, Xchanger to Rising Hill Farm in Ocala,
Florida. Xchanger is the first son of the highly
respected stallion, Exchange Rate, to enter stud. As a race
horse Xchanger raced for the partnership of Circle Z Stables
(Domenico Zannino),
Joe Masone and trainer Mark Shuman. At two he broke
his maiden in his first start. In just his second start, he
won the Sapling S. [G3]. At three he won the initial
running of the Barbaro S. [G3]. At four, he added to his tally
by running second in the Pennsylvania Derby [G2] and third in
the Meadowlands BC S. [G2]. Xchanger retires to his home
state of Florida with a record of 18-4-2-3 and
earnings of $774,990.
As the racing career of Xchanger
ends a new race career begins for another client's colt.
On the twenty fourth of this month a colt by Elusive Quality
out of United Kingdom by Danzig named, King Andrew was second
in a Maiden Special Weight at Turfway Park. Named by Andrew
Sansone, this precocious colt was purchased in utero by Long
Grove for it's long time client, Paradiso Ltd. King Andrew was
born and raised in Paris, Kentucky at Indian Creek Farm
where coincidentally his dam was born. Danzel Breudenmuhl of
Classic Bloodstock started the colt. King Andrew is now in the
hands of trainer,Tim Hamm. We can only dream for
this colt to be around for the first Saturday in May, but
we do know that the best is yet to
come!
This time of year also
mean that foaling season is upon us and the breeding sheds
will be opening soon. Long Grove and it's clients are
expecting foals by stallions such as After Market, Exchange
Rate, Flower Alley, Forest Wildcat, Political
Force Scat Daddy, Steviewonderboy,
and Stormello to name a few.
We have
booked mares to such fine stallions as Circular Quay, Exchange
Rate, Lawyer Ron, Lion Heart, Majestic Warrior,
Midnight Lute, Pollard's Vision, Speightstown, Street
Boss, Street Sense, Tenpins, and Xchanger. Speaking
of seasons, Long Grove has seasons availble to many young
stallions in Florida, Kentucky, New York and Pennsylvania.
Contact us if we can be of assistance.
As I
mentioned at the start of this note that the New Year is
here. I did not mention anything about resolutions,
goals, diets, etc. I did make one resolution this year. All of
you are going to make me abide by my resolution since I am
putting it in writing. My resolution is that you will
recieve The Long Grove Black
Type once a month throughout 2009. I hope
you enjoy it!
Best regards,
Steven A.
Sansone
P.S. I
almost forgot the trivia question. Name two people from the
state of Georgia that have either won an Eclipse Award or have
bred an Eclipse Award winner.
